BlueBio is an ERA-NET COFUND created to directly identify new and improve existing ways of bringing bio-based products and services to the market and find new ways of creating value from in the blue bioeconomy.

The results of the surveys to estimate catches of the target species will contribute to meeting the UK's data collection obligations under the EU Data Collection Framework (DCF) and the Control Regulation (CR). The results will be used to demonstrate national and regional activities and catches by recreational sea anglers and the economic value of sea angling. This will support the Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, the Marine Management Organisation, and Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authorities in achieving a balanced approach to the management of recreational and commercial fishing. Angling bodies such as the Angling Trust and the Bass Anglers Sportfishing Society have a high level of interest in the results, and will have access to the data to support their own views and proposals.
